The client brief called for construction of a new garage block, new kitchen, dining and living spaces. The re-modelling of existing bedrooms required subsequent provision of a new master bedroom suite.
The existing kitchen was disproportionate to the rest of the house and did not respond to the maturing families function and lifestyle. In extending and opening the areas between the existing and new building, the proportions were re-addressed.
In achieving this the structure was incorporated into the design, informally demarcating the revised kitchen and living spaces whilst maintaining functionality. Large areas of glazing to the new extension allowed natural light to flood the existing house. The new bricks used to construct the extension were custom made, the roofing tiles were reclaimed Rosemary tiles sourced as an exact match in order to achieve the aesthetics.
