A design for a contemporary family home in a conservation area in the centre of Corbridge.
Exterior
The house is sited on a former orchard and has been designed to resemble a Georgian rectory at the front, with a contemporary full-height glass atrium and a sunken sun terrace at the rear.
Interior
The house is laid out over four storeys in order to maximise the site and retain as much outdoor space as possible. Excavating a basement level allowed for the creation of a gym and cinema room in addition to a steam room, a plant room and a large snooker/entertainment area, which opens through glass sliding doors onto a sheltered and completely private sunken sun terrace.
Living accommodation on the ground floor radiates off from a spacious central hallway and a three-storey glazed atrium that links the free flowing spaces resulting in no wasted space and includes a kitchen/breakfast room, a family snug, an open-plan sitting area and a double-height dining space. On the two upper floors there are six bedrooms and four bathrooms, with a mezzanine seating area on the first floor.
The house featured on the front cover of ’Self Build & Design’ magazine.
